Flood disaster relief program in Holiya village development committee of Banke district of Nepal where more than 5000 animals were provided medication, minerals and nutritional food and fodder.
“Flood Disaster Relief Program for Animals of Holiya” (FDRPAH) village development committee, Banke District (81°38’ east and 28°4’ north), Nepal, was jointly launched by Society for Animal Welfare and Management Nepal (SAWM Nepal) and Kathmandu Animal Treatment Centre (KAT Centre) under the joint funding of Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and Humane Society International (HSI). Ten days long relief program instigated from 13th September and completed on 22nd September 2007.

Torrential monsoon rain caused heavy flood in Rapti river of Banke district and its natural flow was blocked by Laxmanpur dam of India, merely 200 meter south of Holiya, resulted casualties of animals plus destruction of their grazing land and fodder cultivation forcing them to malnutrition and consequential flood adulterated water caused them gastrointestinal and skin diseases.

All this was perceived by a survey team of SAWM Nepal, KAT Centre and HIS representatives respectively Mr. Nara Narayan Sharma, Khageswor Sharma and Rahul Sehgal.
