Comprehensive survey completed on the general status of Equines (working animals) of Nepalgunj of Nepal.

With no remarkable initiations of animal welfare activities through governmental level and very few works on animal welfare can be observed that are implemented by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Nepal. It is desired a long term and continuous animal welfare effort be run in Nepal through any of the animal welfare groups that exist in the country. There is not enough information regarding status of working animals in terms of health, shelter condition, food availability and general care during life span particularly of productive and post-productive stages. Similarly, there is also lack of information about the geographical areas where the support services should be provided if any of the organization willing to provide such welfare program in need. Considering this prevailing situation in Nepal, Society for Animal Welfare and Management (SAWM) has conducted comprehensive survey on general status of working animals of Nepalgunj (CSGSWAN) of Banke district of Western Development Region of Nepal with a vision of continuous equine welfare. The program was supported by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), UK.
